The 1st stop on our tour of Hoover Dam brought us down to a 50ft diameter tunnel that contained one of the two 30ft diameter pipes that carry water from the intake towers to the Nevada Power Plant.  We stood in a room that was built right on top of the pipe, which is called a penstock.  The floor vibrated from all of the water that was flowing through the penstock.  The Arizona Power Plant is also supplied by 2 other penstocks.
