While in Dublin, we stopped in the heart of the historic district to see Dublin Castle. The castle has held many different roles in it's lifetime... from a defensive fortification to a royal residence to a military garrison. These days it's a major government complex. Since 1938, Dublin Castle has also been host to the inauguration of the President of Ireland.
The castle is open everyday for visitors and tours, except during major holidays or when there is a State function.
